How to save money in the Bahamas?

The bridge from Nassau to Paradise Island

The Paradise in Bahamas

Officially the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is a country consisting of more than 3,000 islands, cays, and islets. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean north of Cuba and southeast of the United States (nearest to the state of Florida). Its land area is 13,939 km2 (5,382 sq mi), with a population of 353,658. Its capital is Nassau.
The closest island to the United States is Bimini, which is also known as the gateway to The Bahamas. The island of Abaco is to the east of Grand Bahama. The southeasternmost island is Inagua. The largest island is Andros Island. Other inhabited islands include Eleuthera, Cat Island, Long Island, San Salvador Island,Acklins, Crooked Island, Exuma and Mayaguana.
The climate of The Bahamas is subtropical to tropical, and is moderated significantly by the waters of the Gulf Stream, particularly in winter. Conversely, this often proves very dangerous in the summer and autumn, when hurricanes pass near or through the islands.
Once known as Hogg Island, Paradise Island is 685 acres of pure bliss connected to Nassau by two 600-foot bridges. The island was developed almost exclusively to delight and accommodate visitors, with resorts, hotels, restaurants, shops, a golf course, an aquarium, and a casino rounding out the amenities. Very few private residences exist on the island.

Under the sea, what you're expected to see!

How to save money in Bahamas?

We stayed at The Best Western in Paradise Island. It's a little island so all is near! Our hotel was great and typical! Of course, you can find some big resorts but they are pretty expensive! The Best Western was the best choice for us, because there is a kitchenette, inside the living-room ; so we had to only buy some food at the supermarket (5 minutes walk), and in this way we could save money. Moreover, this is healthier to make your own lunch and diner than eating all the time at restaurants or fast-foods!

As I tell you above, the hurricane season extends from early June to late November. So, prices are cheaper at this period. Ok, it's a quite risky but if you want to discover this beautiful country and spend less money, it's the deal! We went there on early August, 2010, and it was absolutely amazing!

We haven't seen this kind of landscape before, and you know when you see an add with big sun, blue sky and turquoise sea, you say "It's not the reality, they exaggerate things so that we buy one of their stays"! Well, let me say that the sea is turquoise, the sky is blue and the sun shines thousands of lights! Even in August! To prove this look at my pictures.
