Paradise for Surfers: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is today known as a major tourist destination with its sunny subtropical climate, surfing beaches, canal and waterway systems, its high-rise dominated skyline, theme parks, nightlife, and rainforest hinterland
Surfers!
It is a coastal city located in the South East of the state of Queensland. The city is 94 km south of the state capital Brisbane. With a population of approximately 600,000 in 2011, it is the second most populous city in the state, the sixth most populous city in the country.

I love this kind of house, it's the house of my dreams!
Surfers Paradise: most popular beach there.

Quality Hotel Mermaid Waters Sunshine Boulevard, Gold Coast
Our room

Mermaid Waters is conveniently situated in a secluded location, less than one mile from the beachfront and close to Jupiter’s Casino and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Center.

The hotel has been fully refurbished. The hotel has an elegance and grandeur that extends to the rooms which have been refurbished to a high standard. Many overlook either the sparkling pool or the lush tropical garden. Free, secure parking is also available.

There are a restaurant and a bar at the Hotel. The brasserie restaurant features a full buffet breakfast (cereal, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, sorted cold cuts, cheeses, hot pancakes, bakers corner, eggs selection with bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, juices and tea and coffee).

We have stayed there for two nights, for my birthday. It was a quiet place to stay with all facilities. We have walked from our hotel to the beach.

Coolangatta Airport is just 18km south of the hotel and Brisbane Airport is located 80km away. Both airports are easily accessible to Mermaid Waters through the Pacific Highway. Car Hire and Shuttle (Coach Trans) are available from both airports.

On the streets...

We went there by train. The Gold Coast is connected by rail to Brisbane's Roma Street and Central stations. The closets railway stations servicing the Gold Coast include Nerang, Helensvale and Robina - there are connecting shuttle bus services available from the station to Surfers Paradise and other Gold Coast centres. Airtrain also operate regular rail services from Brisbane Airport to the Gold Coast which take approximately 90 minutes.
